About me:
I am thirteen years old. My parents are from Syria and were born there. My father moved to USA for his studies and lived there by himself for 5 years. Then he came back to Syria because he wanted to get married and he married my mom who went back with him to the USA. They spent their honeymoon in San Francisco. Then I was born in Des Moines, Iowa, USA. I guess you can say I am American. My brother was born in West Virginia, USA, and last but not least my sister was born in Bettendorf, Iowa, USA. Then we stayed in Bettendorf, IA for 6 years. I went to school there. I don’t know what the name of my school in pre-school was but in kindergarten till 4th grade I stayed in riverdale heights elementary school. Then after 4th grade we moved to Syria and I have been going to one school in Syria. I have been in it 5th, 6th, 7th, and this year 8th grade. I will probably stay till 9th grade and then try other schools. My brother and sister went to the same schools as me but not as long as me. My sister who was born in (2000) you can guess her age, forgot her English. I mean she can speak but she is very bad at it. My brother who was born in (1998), is still good at speaking English but he prefers speaking Arabic and he isn’t a good English writer. Me. I didn’t forget anything about talking English, I prefer writing English. I mean I love making stories but none of them are in Arabic, plus I write my diary in English. I don’t watch Arabic shows or movies unless they have and English subtitle at the bottom (which means I don’t watch at all). So like I guess this means that I spent 10 years in USA, my dad 16 years, my mom 11 years, my brother 8 years, my sister 6 years. KEWL? Anyway, I cant tell you about my hair cause I put a scarf around my head which means you cant see my hair (Islamic thing). But I can tell you that I have hazel eyes. I don’t have freckles or braces. Used to have spacers but not anymore. I have glasses but I bought contacts so I don’t put my glasses on that much unless I am at home and no one is coming over or anything.. that’s about it.. oh yeah.. I remembered something.. my birthday is on june 25.. my zodiac is cancer just incase you got curious lol.. ask any question you want and I will gladly answer!!
Cool! Do you like where you live now? Or would you rather live back in the USA?

do you also believe in turban?(like, do you think turban a reasonable thing?) or are you peer-pressured into it? personally, i am muslim but i think turban is ridiculous and women should never be obligated to hide their hair like they are ashamed of it.

Beauty101: well, my islamic teacher was like a woman should hide her hair because she’s beautiful and doesnt want to show her beauty.. get it? i didnt either so she gave me an example….
you have a diamond right? so you hide this diamond you dont want to show it to the world cause its special and eventually some1 will get greedy and want to steal that diamond away from you – - so thats like a womans hair.. you hide it cause its special (i didnt get the stealing it away from you)
but that doesnt matter to me cause my parents made me put the scarf thingy on my head to hide my hair.. i dont think it makes sense and if i could take it off i would!!

i hear ya, that teacher of yours doesn’t seem to make sense either. there are people who wear turban in turkey or that black sheet kind of think that covers your whole body.there aren’t many but there are some. i am muslim but i’m not very religious neither is my family. like, i don’t determine myself as an athiest but i don’t really believe in religion. i choose to not really say much about it in case it’s all true and then i’d end up in hell for not believing in it. all i do is be a good person and not torment any kind of being in any way, i don’t fast for ramadan or pray or perform salaat or anything else that super duper religios people do. personally i think that’s what everybody else should do. i mean, there are people who go beat a dog or murder their daughter and then fast in ramadan and perform salaat and they say “i believe in god”.

Beauty101: Yeah there are also people who wear that black thingy all over their bodys in Syria 2.. I pray and fast, well prayer not that much but i do fast and I have family that doesnt wear the Scarf on their heads on my moms side of the family but my dads side of the family is more religious so they made me put it!!

That stinks about having no choice but to wear a scarf over your hair.
But on the bright side, at least you can freely wear clothes to express your style.
